Rita Pitre Chouest, 85, a native and resident of Cut Off, La., died Thursday, June 5, at 2:15 p.m.

She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Cheramie and husband Douglas, Louise Dykes and Adele King; grandchildren, Doug Cheramie II, Ethan Cheramie, Gabriel King, Rebecca King and Trey Dykes; and great-grandchildren, Caroline King, Jackson Cheramie and Annabelle Cheramie.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Abdon Chouest; and parents, Hennessey and Louise Remont Pitre.

She was a volunteer at Lady of the Sea Hospital and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She was buried at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cut Off.

Falgout Funeral Home of Galliano is in charge of the arrangements.
