Robert Anthony Bergeron, 71, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died at 2:06 p.m. Monday, September 29.


He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” C. Bergeron; one son, Clark Beauvais Bergeron and wife Randy Nicole of Baton Rouge, La.; three stepdaughters, Monique Ayo Button of Hahnville, La., Nicole Ayo DeMoss and husband Darren of Baton Rouge, and Christi Badeaux of Houma, La.; two stepsons, Michael Badeaux and wife Deedee of Stockton, Tx., and Brian Badeaux of Houma; two brothers, Philip Bergeron Jr. of Thibodaux and Richard Bergeron of Metairie, La.; two sisters, Jerrie B. Gillaspie of Houma and Connie Long of Mandeville, La.; two grandchildren, Gavin and Gabrielle; six step-grandchildren, Lindsey, Bryce, Datin, Flora, Mary Ella and John Russell; one step-great-grandson, Blaith; and several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip C. Bergeron Sr. and Annette Beauvais Bergeron; and two brothers, Charles Bergeron and Cecil Bergeron.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy, U.S.C.I.A. and finished his tour in Vietnam. He served the Lafourche Parish Sheriff Department for seven years and continued his public service with the Thibodaux Police Department where he retired. He took a vast interest in his collection hobby of guns, weapons and coins. However, his greatest passion was flying. He was a dedicated police officer, a loving and devoted husband, father and a true friend to those who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all and his memory will always be honored.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, October 6, at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux with mass to follow. He will be buried at the church cemetery.

Landry’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
