Robert Stokes, 90, a native of Alabama and a resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011.
Mr. Stokes was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of Beaulah Baptist Church. He was self-employed.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Stokes; sons, Herbert, Terries (Asima) and Gary (Louise) Stokes; daughters, Darleen (Larry Sr.) Jenkins, Vanessa Beasley, Michelle Maize, Juanita (Vincent) Jenkins and Marguerite Pierre; brother, Charlie Lee Stokes; sister, Lillie M. Dawkins; 29 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rance and Dilsey Stokes; son, Robert Stokes Jr.; daughter, Cassandra Stokes; two brothers, Grover and Joe Lee Stokes; and four sisters, Lolarie, Bessie, Kathyern and Francis Stokes.
He is buried at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. (Community)
