Roland “Jay” Harris Jr., 39, a native and resident of Labadieville, La., died Saturday, July 25.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Margaret C. and Lawrence Thomas Jr. of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Racquel Harris of Thibodaux, La.; one son, Roland Harris III of Labadieville; five sisters, Nichol Moody and husband Godfrey of Vacherie, La., Chantelle Thomas and Terica Wesley of Thibodaux, Felicia Thomas of Houston and Terrilyn Garner of Morgan City, La.; two brothers, Lawrence Thomas III of Labadieville and James Thomas of Paincourtville, La.; maternal grandmother, Camella Berry of Labadieville; and a host of other family members and friends.


He was preceded in death by his father, Roland Harris Sr.; maternal grandfather, James Cunnikin; and paternal grandparents, Walter and Mary Harris.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Williams and Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville, La., and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Nelson Chapel Methodist Church. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial at the church cemetery.

Williams and Southall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
