Roland Joseph Donaldson Jr., 83, a native of Brusly, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, July 11.


He is survived by his wife, Shirley Rhodes Donaldson of Houma; three daughters, Donna Michel, Barbara Gaidry and Charlene Donaldson; one son, Roland Donaldson III; two sisters, Marjorie Dusenberry and Audrey Guidry; two brothers, Carol and Larry Sr. Donaldson; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland J. Sr. and Laura Hernandez Donaldson; one daughter, Laura Duplantis; one brother, Lloyd Donaldson; and two sisters, Margaret Crochet and Rita Mae Picard.

He was a truck driver for McDermott, a Navy seaman first class during World War II and an usher for St. Gregory Barbarigo Church.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, July 13, at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church with mass to follow. Burial will be at Terrebonne Memorial Park.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
