BISCO director weighs in on ‘English only’ proposal

Roland Joseph Lafont Sr., a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died Thursday, July 17, at 3:32 a.m.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Rhodes Lafont; sons, Roland Lafont Jr. and wife Cheryl, and Wallace “Andy” Lafont Sr. and wife Suzette; daughters, Rhonda Dupre and husband Russell, and Dawn Sevin and husband Nac; sisters, Judy L. Lirette and Cheryl L. Domangue; grandchildren, Roland Lafont III, Wallace Lafont Jr., Michael Lafont, Lauren Dupre, Scott Sevin, Kandyl Domangue and Joshua Dupre; and great-grandchildren, Vincente Lafont, Andrew Isaacs, Austin Isaacs and Andre Bergeron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Thelma Pellegrin Lafont; and daughter-in-law, Alison Lafont.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin with mass to follow.
Samart Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
