Roland Peter Lirette, 70, a native of Petit Caillou, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, June 26, 2010.

Mr. Lirette recently retired from Terrebonne Motor Company after 50 years of service where he was loved and admired by his employers as well as employees and customers. His wife and family would like to thank Mr. “Dickie” Barker and all the Barker family for their many ways of friendship and support, as well as their continued love and compassion during this time of bereavement.

His great love for family and friends, at home and at work, was a trademark of this quiet, reserved and gentle man. He enjoyed fishing, cooking for family or workplace gatherings and the light-hearted revelry which encompassed those gatherings. Throughout his years of serving the public, Roland learned how to competently and courteously interact with people, a skill that he shared and tried to teach many within his immediate influence. The wisdom and care he shared with those who knew him is not likely to be forgotten and the many lives he touched with his compassion will go on long after him to touch future generations for years to come. Although Roland will be missed by us all, he will, most certainly, not be forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Belle Martin Lirette; son, Randy (Vickie Lindesey) Lirette; daughter, Sandra (Roland Sr.) Whitney; five grandchildren, Antares (Tony) Boudreaux, Kristen and Roland Whitney, Jr., Stephen, Cole and Aiden Lirette; two great-grandchildren, Claire Rose and Evan Daniel Boudreaux; sisters, Gertrude Hutchinson and Audrey Kramer; and brothers, Nolan, Roy and Wilson “Junior” Lirette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Sr. and Ozelie Dubois Lirette.

He is buried at St. Francis Cemetery No.2.
