Ronald Joseph “Flop” Blanchard Sr., 58, a native of Paincourtville, La., and a resident of Labadieville, La., died at his hunting camp in Kosciusko, Ms., Sunday, March 8.


He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Dolores Milazzo Blanchard; his mother, Rita Landry Blanchard of Paincourtville; sons, Ronald “Ronnie” Jr. and Melissa Blanchard, Donnie and Tara Blanchard, and Shane and Tania Blanchard; sisters, Carrie Mae Boudreaux of Napoleonville, La., Loretta Blanchard of Plaquemine, La., and Karen Blanchard of Port Allen, La.; grandchildren, Logan, Bailey, Alexis, Kayla and Landen Blanchard and Johnathan Tindoll; sister-in-law, Glenda Blanchard of Donaldsonville, La.; Philip Milazzo Sr., Douglas and Sandra Milazzo, Dale and Annie Milazzo Aucoin, all of Labadieville, Jimmy and Donna Milazzo of Baton Rouge, La., Tony Milazzo of Lutcher, La., Mike and Tammy Milazzo of Gonzales, La., Daniel and Betty Milazzo Falcon of Donaldsonville, Michelle Milazzo of Hammond, La., Steve and Clara Milazzo Yates Cain of Kosciusko; his extended family, Sherry Hollinsworth, Jennie O’Neil and Leo Caballero; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew “Doc” Blanchard Sr.; brother, Andrew “A.J.” Blanchard Jr.; sisters-in-law, Vivian Milazzo and Karen Milazzo; brother-in-law, Billy Yates; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gitano and Aldonia Milazzo.


He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp in Mississippi with his wife, sons and grandkids, as well as his numerous hunting buddies. He fought a courageous battle against cancer for several years, staying positive and never giving up. His courage is an inspiration to all who knew him.

Pallbearers were Chad Aucoin, Dale Aucoin, Byron Blanchard, Kevin Blanchard, Daniel Falcon, Danny Falcon, Kevin Sevin and Johnny “Johnny Rebb” Welch.

Burial was at St. Philomena Catholic Church Cemetery in Labadieville.

Landry’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
