Roosevelt “Rocky” Cheramie Jr., 60, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, La., died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011.

Mr. Cheramie was in oilfield sales for many years. He was a best friend to everyone he’d meet and was never at a loss for words. He enjoyed the outdoors as he was a great golfer, and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was at one time honored to win the state bowling championship and be presented with the Louisiana State Championship ring for bowling. Rocky was also a pool player whose claim to fame was to have beaten the famous Minnesota Fats at his own game! He was a family man who loved his family dearly especially his grandkids. He enjoyed playing football with them and taking them fishing.

He is survived by his son, Benjamin Cheramie; daughter, Melissa Cheramie; siblings, Betty Hyde, Beverly Burleigh, Attecia Alston, and Darlene, Perry and Tommie Cheramie; four grandchildren, Gevin, Tyler, Jacob and Natalie; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Eunice Cheramie; wife, Janice Cheramie; and brother, Joe Cheramie.

He is buried at Morgan City Cemetery.
