Rosa Nell (Ma-Ma) Smith, 75, a native of Gheens, La. and resident of Lockport, La. died Saturday, October 13, 2007.


She is survived by her devoted companion of 33 years, John Smith; two daughters, Pauline Lococo Waguespack and Gaynell Lococo Dufrene; one son C. “Ted” Lococo, Jr.; five sisters, Viola Rushing and Barbara Alexander and her husband Nolan, Lenora Smith and her husband Melvin, Audrey Jones and her husband Lawrence, and Ola Brown; two brothers, Philip Smith and Monroe Smith III and his wife Carolyn.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Leola Adams Smith, Jr.; one sister, Mary Thomas; one brother, Leroy Smith; grandparents, Monroe and Polly Smith, Jr. and Celord and Celestine Adams.

Rosa was a devout Baptist and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board. She enjoyed Traveling. She served as a foster grandparent at Lockport Lower Elementary School.

Visitation is Saturday, October 20, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the funeral to follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Raceland, La. She will be buried in Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery in Raceland.

Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
