Rosaura “Chagua” Salinas Williams, 84, a native of Galveston, Tx., and a resident of Thibodaux, La., died Wednesday, March 26, at 6:40 a.m.


She is survived by her sons, John G. Williams, Mark A. Williams, Michael W. Williams and Ronald G. Williams; brothers, Hector Salinas and Benito Salinas; sister, Griselda Gonzalez; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Williams Sr.; her parents, Gill Salinas and Maria Almanza Salinas; sister, Belia Sifuentes; and great-grandson, Austin Robertson.


She served as hostess at LaCasa Del Sol in Thibodaux for 20 years. She also served as an interpreter for the Lafourche Parish Courthouse. She became a born again Christian in 1984.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to NSU Baptist Collegiate Ministry.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 28, and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at First Baptist Church in Thibodaux followed by a religious service Saturday. She will be buried at Gibson Baptist Church Cemetery.

Landry’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
