Rosemary Austin Lewis, 78, a native of Settler, Alberta, Canada and a resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, Aug. 25.


She is survived her husband, Karl E. Lewis; two sons, Donald K. Austin and wife Dawn Louviere Austin of Houma, and Frank A. Austin and wife Stephanie of Arkansas; two daughters, Linda Margo Austin Authement and husband Steven J. Authement of Houma, and Melanie Austin LeBlanc and husband Jamie LeBlanc of Houma; 12 grandchildren, Greg, Steven and Ryan Austin, Lauren and Christopher Authement, Jessica Bergeron Guidry, Lucas, Kenny and Kelsey Bergeron, Cullen, Chris Lindsey and LeeAnn LeBlanc; and six great-grandchildren, Mia and Tyler Austin, Eva-Catherine and Georgia Austin, and Cole Guidry and Lane LeBlanc.


She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ermentrude Saral Keep; and one son, John Burnham Austin.

She was Judge Baron Bourg’s secretary for 25 years. She was a member of the Krewe of Hyacinthians for 40 years and a 10-year member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a parishioner of St. Matthews Episcopal Church. She loved her family and friends and her animals. She loved people!

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Chauvin Funeral Home, and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church. A religious service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with burial at Terrebonne Memorial Park Cemetery.
