Roy Charles Labit Sr., 89, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, June 8, 2010.


Mr. Labit, a devoted Catholic, served the U.S. Coast Guard in World War II. He was a member of the Choctaw Carnival Club and American Legion Algiers Post 218 Lyons Club. He was employed by the City of New Orleans as a comptroller.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Buhler Labit; son, Roy (Kathy) Labit Jr.; daughter, Anne (James) Key (James); sister, Patricia Peterson; four grandchildren, Michael and Timothy Labit, Kristian and Justin Key; and four great-grandchildren.


He is buried at McDonough Cemetery in Gretna.

The family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers, Pam Babin, Jeanette Himel, Cynthia Hymel, Catherine LeBoeuf, Kathy LeBoeuf and the staff of Haydel Memorial Hospice.
