Ruby Gail Jackson, 57, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, June 10.


She is survived by her husband, Leo Jackson Sr.; sons, Leo Jackson Jr. and Aaron Jackson; daughters, Anneka Auzenne and husband Isaac of Kentucky, and Tammy Jackson and fiance John Bingham; brothers, Wilbert Bateast and wife Sarah, Walter A. Bateast and wife Matilda, Stanely Bateast and wife Glenda, all of Houma, David Bateast of Lafayette, La., and Norman Rogers of New Orleans, La.; sisters, Margie Scott and husband Richard Sr., Angeline Bateast, Joyce Nixon and husband Ambrose, Sandra Bateast, Gwendolyn Johnson and husband Herman, all of Houma, Sheila Bateast Billiot of Texas and Charlene Gray of New Orleans; and three grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie and Walter Bateast Sr.; brothers, John and Ricky Bateast; sisters, Judy Ann, Rose Marie and Marie Ann Bateast; and grandparents, Florence Mack Castle, Angeline Dunbar and Beulah Bateast.

She was a member of New Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church where she served in the choir and as a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed gardening and was retired from the Terrebonne Parish School Board.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 15, at Community Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Chauvin, La., with burial at the church cemetery.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
