Russel Norman Elliott, 87, a native of Thornwell, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Friday, October 10, at 10:15 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Wells Elliott of Houma; one son, Glenn Elliott and wife Glenda of Fort Worth, Tx.; two daughters, Nancy Richoux and husband Anthony of Richardson, Tx. and Ellen Schwerer and husband Bryan of Cary, N.C.; two stepsons, Robert McLaurin and wife Susan of Centranelle, Al., and Mike McLaurin and wife Luan of DeRidder, La.; one stepdaughter, Ann Walton and husband John of Houma; one brother, Francis “Frank” Andrew Elliott of Pineville, La.; two sisters, Joanna Grace Elliott Vaughn of Houston, Tx., and Nellie “Corky” Louise Elliott of Pineville; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Wood Elliott; his parents, Leroy Elliott and Leona Notesine Elliott; four brothers, Fred Rosemand Elliott, Loree “Bob” Elliott, Ellery Charles Elliott, and Leroy Fred Elliott; and one sister, Winona Mae Elliott.
He was a retired district superintendent for Texaco Pipeline and was a lieutenant junior grade in the U.S. Navy. During World War II he worked on the east coast improving the efficiency of torpedoes. He was a parishioner at First United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, October 13, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, at First United Methodist Church with a religious service to follow. He will be buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
