Russell John Barrios Sr., 59, a native of New Orleans, LA. and resident of Gray, LA., died at 5:20 a.m. Sunday January 21, 2007.


Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma, LA. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

He is survived by his companion of 18 years, Loretta LeBlanc of Gray; his mother, Pearl Lirette Barrios of Golden Meadow, LA.; one son, Russell Barrios Jr. and wife, Kimberly Faciane, of Houma; one daughter, Rushelle Barrios Fitzgerald and husband, Allan, of Houma; two brothers, Ray Michael Barrios and ex-wife, Debra Sauder, of Larose, LA. and Randy Paul Barrios and wife, Toni Smith, of Cut Off, LA.; one sister, Maggie Barrios Grigsby of Cut Off; one half-sister, Hope Barrios Graham of Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Erin Nicole Fitzgerald, Shawn Allan Fitzgerald, Brody John Barrios and Ally Susan Barrios; one godchild and nephew, 1st Sgt. William John Grigsby; five nephews, Randy Joseph Barrios, Ryan Paul Barrios, Travis E. Johnson, Larry R. Johnson and Eddie Graham; one godchild and niece, Desirae Elizabeth Barrios; two nieces, Verna Grigsby Thietje and Sarah Rushelle Barrios; one godchild, Karen Cheramie Quimby; and numerous relatives.


He was preceded in death by his father, Nolan Joseph Barrios; his grandparents, Pierre and Zilda Pierre Barrios, Charley Lirette and Juanita Guidry Lirette Rogers; and two nephews, Troy David Grigsby and Richard Graham.

He was a senior drilling superintendent for Exxon Mobil Exploration and Production in Malaysia. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve as a Sergeant First Class (E7). He was a rock for the family and will be greatly missed by all who crossed paths with him.

He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.

Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
