Samuel “Mr. Sam” Stafford Jr., 80, a native of Crowley, La., and resident of Raceland, La., died at 11:03 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010.
Mr. Sam worked as an oilfield wire line operator for 33 years with Booker Drilling and W.R. Grace. He was currently employed with Wal-Mart in Mathews, La. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War in the 4th Infantry Regiment Mortar Company as a squad leader.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Leona Baudoin Stafford; daughter, Sheila Stafford; sisters, Mary “Mabel” (Mack) Benoit, Azele (Paul) Reese and Diane Stafford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Sr. and Nancy Gilliam Stafford; and one brother, Thomas Stafford.
He is buried at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
