Rev. Saulmon Thomas Sr., 81, a native of Beaumont, Texas, and resident of Terrebonne Parish, La., died Wednesday, March 28, 2012.


Rev. Thomas was a former member of Blaine C. Clay Lodge, a former instructor at United Theological Seminary of Houma, La., and Bayou Baptist Association. He was a carpenter and Pastor of Mechanicville Emmanuel Baptist Church.


He is survived by his wife, Lillian Thomas; sons, Saulmon Jr., Bernell and Allen Thomas; daughters, Robertadine (George) Stevenson, Gail Thomas and Brenda (Charley) Johnson; brothers, Isaac and Otis (Yvone) Thomas; sister, Lizzie (Herbert) Guidry; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Matt and Mary Thomas; daughter, Jacquelyn Lewis; brothers, Wilton, Matt, Herbert, Jeff, Jasper, Benjamin and George Thomas; and sisters, Elsie Nevers and Eula Mae Jones.

Burial was at Mechanicville Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery. (Community)
