Shirley Duplantis Voisin, 79, a native and resident of Grand Caillou, La., died Sunday, October 19, at 11 a.m.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin Voisin Jr.; sons, Primo Voisin and wife Dena Dupre Voisin and Eddie Voisin and wife Kim LeBoeuf Voisin; grandchildren, Tammy Voisin Simon and Matthew and Jessica Voisin; and sisters-in-law; Lo Lo LeCompte and Myrtle Lou Duplantis.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Hazel Voisin Duplantis; brothers, Nelson, Sylvester Jr. and John Duplantis; sister, Mary Ann Duplantis; and sister-in-law, Roberta Duplantis.

She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was very generous and used her talent for crocheting to bless others. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, La., with services to follow Wednesday. She will be buried at Holy Family Cemetery in Dulac, La.

Samart Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
