Shirley Dupre Levron, 80, a native and a resident of Point-aux-Chenes, La., died Sunday, March 31, 2013.


Mrs. Levron served on the Recreation District Board No. 6 for over 40 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion Russell Redmond Post 272 Ladies Auxiliary. She was recording secretary for the Montegut Children’s Carnival Club and Bonne Terre Carnival Club. She served on the Ladies Altar Society, was a church Sacristian and Eucharistic minister, sang in the choir and was the pastoral council Liturgy chairperson and active in the Cursillo at St. Charles Catholic Church. She organized the annual Christmas song fest and was an organizer of the original Cajun Festival Church Fair. She was an election commissioner for Ward 6 and a school volunteer. She was dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.


She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Elias Levron; sons, Carter (Beti) and Brad (Donna) Levron; daughter, Sharon (Richard) Griffin; brother, Eura Dupre; sisters, Lucille Thibodaux, Rosa Mae Bourg and Joyce Ledet; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Filmore and Alcidie Dupre; son, Phil Levron; daughter, Darla Gautreaux; brothers, Druis, Ives and Wilsey Dupre; and sisters, Cecile Ledet, Cedonia and Eunice Dupre, Verna Naquin and Anna Mae Thibodeaux.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at Montegut Fire Station and 8:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery. (Samart)
