Lenten Gumbo served for 20 years, still going strong
March 19, 2010Shirley Guidry Prosper, 71, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died at 12:45 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010.
A parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church, Mrs. Prosper enjoyed working at Wal-Mart for 12 years.
She is survived by her son, Anthony “Tony” Prosper; daughters, Tonette Griffin, Toni Percle and Theresa Folse; brothers, Gary and Adam Guidry Jr.; sister, Pearl Jordan; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by his Wildred “Buddy” Prosper Jr.; and parents, Adam Sr. and Annabelle Lanegrasse Guidry.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church.
She will be buried at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church Cemetery.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Mathews is in charge of arrangements.
