Shirley Lottinger Diviney, 85, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, June 23, after a long illness.


She is survived by her niece, Mary Kimball Stokes; nephews, Danny Kimball and Randy Kimball; and an extended family of grand-nieces and close, beloved friends.


She was preceded in death by her husband, John Divinely; parents; sisters, Marie Lottinger Kimball and Dorothy Lottinger; brother, L.J. Lottinger Jr.; and nephew Charles Kimball Jr.

Shirley was born Dec. 12, 1923 to Lawrence and Mabel Lottinger and was a lifelong resident of Houma. She was a graduate of Terrebonne High School and the New Orleans Business School. Shirley worked for Texaco in the Employees Relations Department retiring after 34 years of service. She was a devout Catholic, a gentle and caring soul, with great love for her family and friends. Generous of spirit and heart, she was actively supportive of religious missions working with the indigenous poor. Shirley exemplified faith in action.

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, June 26, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral with the funeral mass to follow. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
