Shirley Mae Marie Picou, 81, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 5:22 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011.


Mrs. Picou was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Her passion for gardening and her love for flowers brought happiness to her life and the lives of many others.

She is survived by her sons, Floyd Jr. and Gregory Sr. Picou; daughter, Tammy Johnston; sister, Betty Becnel; brother, Charles Babin; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Picou Sr.; daughter, Diana Picou; son-in-law, George Johnston; parents, Berwick and Ophelia Marie Bourg Babin; sisters, Ruth Detiveaux and Barbara Prestenback; and brothers, Joseph and Terry Babin.
