Sidney J. Hebert, 86, a native of Larose, La., and a resident of Lockport, La., died Monday, December 22, at 10:52 a.m.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virgie D. Hebert; sisters, Isabelle M. Compeaux and Lorena H. Guidry; grandchildren, Zackariah Dufrene, Crystal D. Matherne and Kimberly Dufrene; and great-grandchildren, Drake Dufrene, Ethan Dufrene, Isabelle Dufrene; Mason Dufrene, James “Jeep” Portier IV, Brianna Bergeron and Shawna Bergeron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Belton and Louridia Chiasson Hebert; foster son, Gilbert G. Dufrene Jr.; brothers, Maurice Hebert, Noah Hebert and Norbert “T-Rabb” Hebert; and sisters, Daisy H. LeBlanc and Anna Hebert.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and V.F.W. He was a retired carpenter who enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, December 26, at Holy Savior Catholic Church with a military service at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Raceland, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
