Octaviana Ortega Rosas, 67, a native of Cojumatlan De Regules, Michoacan and resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011.

Sister Octaviana Ortega Rosas was a religious sister of the Guadalupan Missionaries of the Holy Spirit. She became a missionary on March 8, 1963 and was a missionary in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and lastly here in Houma. She was a sister full of life and loved her vocation. She enjoyed arts and crafts, cooking, gardening, flowers and especially serving those who were in need. We celebrate her many God given gifts, and all that which she so generously gave to each one of us. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her cousin, Ana Maria Ortega; and many other cousins and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Ortega and Maria Genaro Rosas; and three siblings, Martha, Arcelia and Rodolfo Ortega Rosas.
