Southern Smith, 80, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, November 9.
He is survived by his wife, Ora Smith; son, James and wife Chessley Smith; daughter, Tiffany and husband Rev. Montrell Bradley; brother, Frank Smith; sister, Noel Campbell; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Algretta Smith; daughter, Marion Starks; brother, Calvin Smith; and sisters, Bessie Smith, Algretta Smith and Alma Stadium.
He was an ordained deacon at New St. Paul Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, November 14, at Community Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 15, at New St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with burial at the church cemetery.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
