Sterling Steward Sr., 67, a native of Napoleonville, La., and a resident of Labadieville, La., died Monday, January19.

He is survived by his wife, Helen C. Steward of Labadieville; three sons, Sterling Steward Jr. of Kentucky, Darryl Steward of New Orleans, La., and Kentrell Steward of Thibodaux, La.; stepson, Earl Smith of Houma, La.; daughter, Zell Wilson of New Orleans; stepdaughter, Tracy Smith of Houma; brother, Calvin Steward of Napoleonville; sister, Greta Myles of Labadieville; 10 grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Martha Steward; one son, Kendrick Steward; one sister Anna Dugal; and grandparents, Ike and Chaney Steward and Elnora Holly.

He was Baptist and a former member of Soul Knights Motorcycle Club of Thibodaux. His hobbies included bike riding, working on cars and watching television.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, at New Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Napoleonville. The Religious service will be at 11 a.m. at the church with burial at the church cemetery.

Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
