Stuart John Stein, 87, a native of Vacherie, La., and resident of Houma, La., died at 3:27 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012.


Mr. Stein was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was very proud to be a veteran. He was the manager of Oilwell Supply division of U.S. Steel for 36 years and a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, fishing and spending time with his family.


He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Stein; daughters, Debra Gaynard, Charlene (Jo) McKerall and Karen (Darryl) Ragusa; sisters, Henrietta Ockmond, Gladys Campo, Bertha Rauscholb and Natalie Hinojosa; brother, James (Doris) Stein; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Lillian Stein; and brother, Walter Stein.

Burial was at St. Francis Cemetery No. 2. (Falgout)
