Sylvester Fitch, 91, a native of Jeanerette, La., and a resident of Raceland, La., for 45 years, died Thursday, March 20, at 1:32 p.m.

He is survived by his sons, Ray Paul Fitch, Steve Mark Fitch and William Joseph “Bill” Fitch; brother, Walter Fitch; sisters, Shirley Duhon and Adley McLeod; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mary “Marie” Chiasson Fitch; his


parents, Rillius Fitch Sr. and Carmelite Martinez Fitch; brothers, Jimmy, Rillius “Black” Jr., J.C. “Shorty”, and Margis “Bolo” Fitch; and sisters, Therese Romgro, Daisy Guillotte and Corinne Lancon.

He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, at St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic

Church in Raceland with mass to follow. He will be buried at the church cemetery.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
