June 27, 2013Teresa “Terry” Holguin Burgess, 74, a native of Las Cruces, N.M., and resident of Bayou Vista, La., died Tuesday, June 25, 2013.
Mrs. Burgess worked as a professional seamstress often making her children’s clothing. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Willie Burgess Sr.; children, Jacqueline (Herbert) Boutte and William Jr. and Joey (Joanna) Burgess; siblings, Concepcion Rodriguez, Delia Munoz, Emma Renteria, Bertha Sanchez and Alice, Irene, Peter, Silverio and Willie Holguin; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Domingo and Jesusita Holguin; and siblings, Lydia, Hector, Jose and Alberto Holguin.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, June 28, at Ibert’s Mortuary with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista. Interment will be at Ibert’s Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. (Ibert’s)
