Thomas C. Penisson, 87, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died peacefully at his home from complications due to diabetes at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010.


A veteran of World War II, Mr. Penisson served 18 months in the European Theater. He was a member of VFW Post No. 3665 and American Legion Post 249. A welder for 34 years for Texaco Inc.’s Caillou Island Field for 34 years,Mr. Pennison enjoyed camping, car racing and was an avid hunter and fisherman.


He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Zefa Folse Penisson; brother, Dennis (Janice) Penisson; sister, Celia Faulkner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Annette Falgout Penisson; son, Thomas C. Penisson III; and sisters, Helena Cole and Alice Guidry.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church. A memorial service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Penisson will be buried at St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Cemetery.
