Thomas D. “Tommy” Bourgeois Sr., 55, a native of Morgan City, La., and resident of Berwick, La., died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014.
Mr. Bourgeois served as a mentor, teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal and principal at Berwick Junior High and Berwick High Schools. He also served at Bayou Vista Elementary, J.B. Maitland Elementary and Central Catholic High School during his career. He was a loyal educator who had a significant impact on countless young adults and fellow educators. He was a member of the St. Mary Parish Principal’s Association, Kappa Alpha Order and a lifetime member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Bourgeois; son, Thomas Bourgeois Jr.; daughters, Dru Hebert and Kristen Bourgeois; brother, Alfred Bourgeois; sisters, Kristi and Babette Bourgeois and Jeanne David; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Jr. and Barbara Bourgeois.
Entombment is at Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum. (Twin City)
