Velma Dupre Scully, 76, a life long resident of Morgan City, La., passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma, La.


Velma is survived by her companion of 19 years, Leroy Breaux of Amelia, La.; four sons; Edward Scully Jr. and wife Patty of Morgan City, Roger Scully and wife Renee’ of Bayou Vista, La., Anthony Scully and companion Shelly Duval of Amelia, and Sterling Scully of Amelia; five sisters, Barbara Comeaux and husband Heuy of Amelia, Thelma Kennerson of Bayou La Batre, Ala., Katherine Coolee and husband Edward of Luling, La., and Mary Palmature and husband Carl of Morgan City; and one brother-in-law, Buddy Bowen.


Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Scully Sr.; parents Sterling and Ellina Dupre; and three sisters, Martha Bowen, Eve Dupre and Lydga Dupre.

Velma retired from Bailey’s Seafood after working in the seafood factories for 40 plus years. She loved her family and always worried about their well being more than her own. When entering her home she made sure you were not either hungry or thirsty. She loved to cook for you and she loved her flowers both inside and outside. Velma will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Amelia with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Velma will be laid to rest at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery.

Twin City Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
