Lenten Gumbo served for 20 years, still going strong

Velma Rogers Friloux, 93, a native of Galliano, La., and resident of Boutte, La., died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at her home.
She is survived by her sons, Lester Jr. (Lisa) of Boutte and Mitchel Friloux of Gonzales, La.; daughter, Bernice Friloux of Gonzales; and 10 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lester Friloux Sr.; parents, Adam and Agatha LeBlanc Rogers; daughter, Donna Garcia; brothers, Louis and Noah Rogers; and sisters, Laura Adams, Eula Boudreaux and Beulah Schouest.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Luling. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11 a.m.
She will be buried at Sunset Cemetery of Bayou Gauche.
Falgout Funeral Homes of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
