Velton Paul Guidry, 81, a native and resident of Galliano, La., died Friday, May 27, 2011.


Mr. Guidry was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of American Legion, Holy Name Society and president of local genealogy club La Societe du Cajun.


He is survived by his wife, Gertrude “Gertie” Kiger Guidry; sons, Leonard and Jeffery (Tonia) Guidry; brothers, Roy and Richard Guidry; sister, Velma Trahan; and three great-grandchildren, Cory, Kyle and Blake Foret.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gracien and Augusta Chouest Guidry; brother, Junius Guidry; and sisters, Jeanette Autin and Hildred Leblanc.

He is buried at Cheramie Cemetery. (Falgout)
