Vera Mire, 87, a native of Franklin, La., and resident of Morgan City, La., died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 on her birthday.


Ms. Mire was a lady who was full of everything good. She believed in living a full life and had the stories to prove it. She believed in her family and always put them first. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, she worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron Works during WWII, and she also worked for West Brothers and Marilyns Hallmark.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Senator Butch) Gautreaux; daughter-in-law, June Mire; sisters, Barbara Schexnaildre and Muriel Bourque; four grandchildren, Michael (Rhonda) and Lee (Stephanie) Gautreaux, Lisa (Rusty) Robicheaux and Michael (Sandy) Mire; 10 great-grand children, Alana, Drew, Adrian, Abigail, Buck and Katelyn Gautreaux, Lauren and Alex Robicheaux, and Katelyn and Mikey Mire; and by her nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph “Dickie” Mire; parents Aldes and Louise Dupre; sons, Dickie and Michael Mire; and one great-grandson, Ryan Robicheaux.

She is buried at Morgan City Cemetery.
