Virginia A. Thornton, 51, a native of Shreveport, La., was called home to our Lord on Saturday morning December 13.


She is survived by her three beloved sons, Chance Whitney Diaz and wife Melissa of Richmond, Tx., Kenny Joseph Diaz and wife Brandi of Richmond, and Beau Jarred Diaz and wife Danielle of Oceanside, Ca.; her mother, Bettie T. Monson of Napoleonville, La.; her stepmother, Lee Ann Thornton of Plattenville, La.; brother, V. Ray Thornton III and wife Connie of Napoleonville; sister, Vickie T. Maeder and husband John of Conroe, Tx.; two stepsisters, Vikki Ward Taft and husband Jay of Springfield, Il., and Rex Ann Ward of Plattenville; her former husband and friend, Kenneth J. Diaz of Gonzales, La.; seven grandchildren; and her nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and many friends.


She was preceded in death by her father, V. Ray Thornton Jr.; her stepfather, Wesley J. Monson; and both paternal and maternal grandparents.

“Gin,” as she was affectionately known, was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was a friend to all who were privileged to have known her. She had a zest for life and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was a talented floral designer, an accomplished cook and also enjoyed gardening and reading.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, December 19, at First Baptist Church of Napoleonville with the funeral service to follow.

Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
