Walterine Marie Crochet Savoie, 95, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, June 21, 2011.


Mrs. Savoie worked in the lunch room at St. Francis de Sales School for several years. She was an excellent homemaker and caregiver to her children and grandchildren. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.


She is survived by her sons, Max (Emilie), Tommie (Laura) and James (Theresa) Savoie; daughters, Dolores Picou, Claire (Bill) Muster, Norma Davis and Elaine (Edmond) Duncan; sister, Alice Knoblock; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Savoie; parents, Albert and Clotilde Crochet; brothers, Olden, Edward and Nolan Crochet; sisters, Gertrude Rogers and Mildred Chaisson; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 24, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. (Chauvin)
