Wayne J. Rogers, 62, a native of Bayou Blue, La., died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013.
Mr. Rogers was a Vietnam War veteran who became an informal, yet passionate advocate for fellow veterans and their families. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Sharpshooter (Rifle).
Before becoming a voice for veterans, many young men knew his voice on the football field as Coach Wayne with TPR football.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Rogers; children, Darcus (Shawn) Landry, Blake (Rosalind) and Ryan (Michelle) Rogers and Lee (Lorne Jr.) Mott; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Muriel Rogers; and siblings Judy Hebert, Jennifer Schwab and Raymond Rogers Jr.
Burial is at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gray, La. (Thibodaux)
