Weber Louis Callais, 98, a resident of Golden Meadow, La., died at 8:33 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012.


Mr. Callais was one of the first Golden Meadow aldermen. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Golden Meadow Rotary Club and was the founder and president of Bayou Boat Rental. He enjoyed making trawls, big game fishing, crawfishing and visiting at his camp in Grand Isle, La.


He is survived by his companion, Gertie Cheramie; daughters, Emma Randazzo and Mary (Norris) Guidry; sisters, Pearl Bellanger and Velma Rogers; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Onezime and Clara Callais; wife, Estelle Callais; daughter, Carolyn Griffin; and brothers, Abdon, Fornest, Joseph, Harris and Inez Callais.

Interment was at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery. (Falgout)
