Wiley Joseph Gary, 75, a native of New Iberia, La., and resident of Franklin, La., died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011.


Mr. Gary was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going to the camp with family and friends, as well as raising his garden and sharing the fruits of his labor. He dedicated over 30 years working for St. Mary Parish operating heavy equipment for the drainage board and road crews.


He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elaine Gary; children, Maxine (David) Breaux, Yvonne (Robby) Marcel, Preston (Sherryl), Francis (Felicia), Kevin (Angela) and Chris (Desiree) Gary; sister, Barbara Bourque; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ovey and Eliza Gary; brothers, Minus, Wilton and Leroy Gary, Gabriel and Dalton Bourque; and sisters, Irene Migues, Lily Hebert and Lelia Gary.

Interment was at Franklin Cemetery. (Ibert’s)
