Willard E. Rodrigue, 85, a former resident of Bayou Blue, La., and recent resident of Lake Charles, La., died at noon Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010.


Mr. Rodrigue worked for Superior Oil Company for 30 years. He was a worship leader and a member of the deacon board of 1st Assembly of God in Thibodaux and Bayou Blue Assembly of God. He enjoyed farming and was well-known for his vegetables.

He is survived by his daughters, Virgie (Edgar Jr.) Poole, Margaret (Leroy) Adams, Elizabeth (Edward) Wooten, Cynthia (Joel) Schroeder, Margie (Loyal) Rowland, Althea (Tom) Doud, Angela (David) Freeman, Melissa (Everett) Cantrelle, Laura (Patrick) Pinkston and Glenda (Steven) Boyer; sons, Elie (Paula), Willie (Donna), Allen (Becky), Willard Benny, Mark (Josephine), David (Freida) and Ronnie (Janet) Rodrigue; brothers, Eugene, Bobby, Eddie, Raymond, Gus and Gary Rodrigue; sisters, Walterine Babin, Gloria Cherry, Georgia “Toni” Shepard and Lilly Myers; 84 grandchildren; and 85 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Ledet Rodrigue; parents, Augustine and Bridget Rodrigue; six brothers, Wallace, Wilbur, Albert “Berry,” Weston, Walton and John Norris Rodrigue; and one sister, MaryAnn Rodrigue.

He is buried at Rogers Cemetery.
