William “Billy” Augustine Ledet, 80, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Thursday, June 5, 2014.


Mr. Ledet was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked in the Thibodaux banking industry until his retirement. His real passion in life was sharing his artistic talent in many mediums as well as teaching. He served as band booster president and devoutly followed the music program at E.D. White Catholic High School.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ferdie Ledet; sisters, Marie Prejeant and Carolyn Hayward; children, Jimmy (Louise) and Keith (Debbie) Ledet and Tessie (Kregg) Lupo; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Lily Ledet; brothers, E.P. Ledet Jr. and Henry Cooper; and sisters, Ruby Knobloch and Priscilla Ledet.


Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 6, at Landry’s Funeral Home and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. (Landry’s)
