William Joseph Hetzer, Sr., 90, a native of Richmond Hill, New York and a resident of Houma, died at 7:18pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2007.

He is survived by his son, William Hertzer, Jr. of Rensselaer, New York; his daughter Donna Von Burgsdorff and her husband William of Houma; and two grandchildren, Michael and Kevin Von Burgsdorff.


He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Margaret Hertzer.

William was a devout Catholic and an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Northrop Grumman in Bethpape, New York after 25 years of dedicated employment. He was a world traveler and an avid sports fan, with an expert knowledge of horse racing.

A memorial mass for William and his recently deceased wife Margaret will be held at a later date.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
