William Ronald McMurray, 82, a native of Baton Rouge, La., and resident of Houma, La., died at 9:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2011.
Mr. McMurray taught at numerous schools and was a guidance counselor and vice principal in Terrebonne Parish for 40 years. He served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association.
She is survived by her wife, Shirley Daunis McMurray; one granddaughter, Sara Ann McMurray; daughter-in-law, Kathy McMurray; nieces and nephews, Sandra T. Redden, Pat Theophilus, Jack Shelton and Jill S. Langston.
She was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Myra Hobgood McMurray; son, Ron Paul McMurray; and sisters, Elsie Theophilus, Peggy Sheldon and Gloria Larson.
She is buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
