Fletcher receives disaster expansion funds
August 23, 2011Wilma Plaisance Guidry, 80, a native of Larose, La., and resident of Galliano, La., died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011.
Mrs. Guidry graduated from Larose High School as valedictorian and attended University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she majored in clothing and designing. She was wholly devoted to her home, husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. For many years, she was a substitute school teacher for Lafourche Parish Schools. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert Guidry; son, John Guidry; daughter, Joan Guidry; brother, Lee (Audrey) Plaisance; sister, Geraldine (Herbert) Chiasson; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Nora Ledet; brother, Roland Plaisance; daughter, Carolyn Guidry; and two grandsons.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22 and 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano. A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano with burial to follow at the church mausoleum. (Falgout)
