Yvonne Fournier, 85, a native and resident of Houma, Louisiana, died June 29, 2014.


A parishioner of St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church, Mrs. Fournier spent many hours volunteering at the church. She was also a member of the K of C Ladies Auxiliary No. 1317. She was an avid reader, who enjoyed news and fiction. She was also a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Mrs. Fournier is survived by her husband, George Paul Fournier Sr.; sons, George Paul (Annette) Jr. and Timothy J. (Diana) Fournier; daughter, Brenda (Eddie Jr.) Doiron; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Merle S. Davis.

Her parents, John A. Smith and Eunice Matherne Smith; and brothers, Jason P. Sr. and Harvey “Bubba” Smith Sr., preceded her in death.


The family extends a special thanks to Journey Hospice, especially Linda and Trudy, and the entire staff of The Oaks of Houma. Additionally, they thank Mrs. Fournier’s best friend, Margaret Rhodes for always being there when she was needed most.

Donations may be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church’s building fund in her memory.

Burial is at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
