Houma man accused of selling drugs that led to overdose death, arrested for second-degree murder

Catherine Hellier, 71, a native and resident of Houma, LA. passed away on July 31, 2021.
She is survived by her husband, John Hellier; daughter, Stephanie Hellier; grandson, Mathew Odom and partner, Anastasia Boquet; granddaughter, Keri Trahan and partner Roddy Tabor; great-granddaughter, Caroline Tabor; great-grandson, Nicholas Odom; sisters, Cheryl Bernard and husband Wade Bernard, Diane Foret and husband, Ray Foret; brothers, Keith Kappel and wife Reba Keppel, Bobby Kappel and wife Jennifer Kappel; sisters-in-law, Libbie and Cyril Hellier, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie Kappel and Joseph Douglas; grandparents, Pamela Guidry and Ernest Guidry; brother, Barry Kappel; grandson, Nicholas Trahan; mother-in-law, Cyril Hellier; brothers-in-law, David Hellier, Sr, and Harry Hellier; nephews, David Hellier, Jr. and Barry Kappel, Jr.
She was a housewife and homemaker. A lady with much pride, whose heart was as big as her smile. She had a love for good music and culture with her trips to New Orleans taking in the city. Her favorite place above all is the beach, which she would have gladly lived there if she could. But her biggest love of all were her grandchildren. They were her everything, her reason for getting up everyday. She was able to play and be silly and make beautiful memories. We will forever be grateful for all of the love that she shared with us. She will be forever in our hearts.
Services will be at a later time. Donations in lieu of final costs.
