Christine Marie Naquin

November 26, 1958 – April 4, 2022

Christine “Poonie” Naquin, 63, a native and resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana passed away on April 4, 2022.

A visitation will be held in her honor on Saturday, April 9, 2022  at Thibodaux Funeral Home from 9:00am until 1:00pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at Norm’s Daiquiris in Poonie’s honor after the visitation.

She is survived by her partner of 25 years, Lynnette Hebert; brother, Bruce Rivet (Lizbeth); son, Daniel Long (Abby); unborn grandson, Valor Michael; Lynnette’s mother, Linda Hebert; Lynnette’s sister, Robin Albares; nieces and nephews, Tony Rivet, Teri Rivet, Austun Albares, and Tori Albares; and a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gibbons “Bae-Bae” and Margaret Keller Naquin; brother, Charles Rivet; Lynnette’s father, Daniel Hebert; and best friend of 51 years, Neal Swanner.

Poonie was a 1976 graduate of E.D. White and a 1996 graduate of Nicholls State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics. She had a profound love and passion for sports. In her younger years, she was an amazing softball player, having played on several teams, including Schlitz, Miller Lite, Louisiana Compressor, Rebel Club, 9 + 1, and Lafourche Novelty, coached by Neal Swanner. She also had a profound love and passion for food, where to many in our community, she was known as the backbone of Bubba’s II Poboys and Seafood. She dedicated many years of her life providing phenominal cajun cuisine to her beloved family, friends, and community members.

She was a staple in our beloved community, known to many, and loved by all. Many loved her for her whitty personality, wise words, and loving heart.

Because of her love for animals and support of local rescue groups, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Just Cats Rescue.
