Donald Callais

Donald Callais, 78, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Houma, Louisiana passed away peacefully, on Sunday, January 15, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.

A visitation will be held in  his honor on Friday January 20, 2023 at Covenant Church in Houma, Louisiana, (4863 West Park Ave) from 9:00am until 11:00am, with services following.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy Braud Callais, his son Jason Callais (Elizabeth), daughter, Jessica Callais Positerry (Andy), grandsons, John Callais, Jules Callais, Joey Positerry, and Alex Positerry, great grandson Jules Callais Jr., brothers, Herman (Mary), Herbert and Raymond Callais, sisters Laura Mae Adams, Enola Renois, and Audrey Denning.

He is preceded in death by his parents Nelson and Leonia Bruce Callais, sisters Virgis Callais Patton and Anna Mae Callais Anselmi.

Donald retired from Chevron in 1997. After retiring from Chevron he worked several other jobs in the oil-field until 2005. In 2005, he began his last job at Chauvin Funeral Home, where he retired in 2015. Donald enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, having monthly lunches with the Chevron Retiree bunch. He also enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. He got his biggest enjoyment from his grandkids and picking on family members.

The family would like to extend their deepest heart felt appreciation for Dr. Neupert and his staff, Journey Hospice staff, Lacie, Monique, Joslyn, Bailee, Shawanda, and Colette, and his special caregivers Diana, Hermanie, Caul, and Martha. We would also like to thank all those who showed support during his last days.
